Screen Magazine - IndexScreen Magazine - Screen Magazine: Vol. 29, Issue 18 - IndexImmediate Music has made a
significant company expansion in
Santa Monica, Calif. The development
involves the establishment of a
consolidated company headquarters
and the building of two state-of-theart
production studios. Immediate
Music has also added composers Mark
Phillips and John Samuel Hanson to its
roster, and named Emily Weber as its
Director of Operations. The expansion
follows on the heels of the company
having provided music for NBC’s
2008 Beijing Olympics. Immediate
Music’s Emmy Award-winning cofounders/composers/producers
Yoav
Goren and Jeffrey Fayman made the
announcements.
Regarding the expansion, Fayman
said, “Having worked for many years
producing original high quality music
for film advertising, we realized that
the time had come for us to branch
out further - to reach out to a broader
potential client base by making our
catalogue available for the first time
to other arenas. To do this, we decided
that we needed a larger base of operations. Our new
space, two new recording studios and expanded personnel
will help serve that purpose.”
The company has done away with using multiple PCs
with many interfaces and cables, and is now utilizing Mac
Pros using MIDI over LAN and MADI for audio streaming.
Immediate Music’s new Production Studios feature an SSL
AWS 900+ board, ProTools HD4 Studio rigs, and fully loaded
64-bit Dual Quad Core MacPros capitalizing on a super
fast fiber network which host the sounds libraries and audio
recordings. Goren and Fayman note that Immediate Music
is not only on the cutting edge of music for media, but
also stands at the forefront in the application of modern
technology in the audio industry.
Composer Mark Phillips spent several years touring the world
as a guitarist and played shows with such acts as No Doubt,
Stone Temple Pilots and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He later
studied Music Composition for Television and Film at UCLA
and completed certification as an Audio Engineer. He has
written music for over 70 shows including “The Amazing
Race,” “Dirty Dancing” and “America’s Most Wanted” and
also contributed to the score of NBC’s hit series “American
Gladiators.”
After John Samuel Hanson received his Bachelor of Arts in
Music Composition from California State University Fullerton,
he worked for composer Klaus Badelt at Hans Zimmer’s

renowned production facility, Media Ventures/Remote
Control. He has also been a sound programmer and score
assistant on the motion pictures “Constantine,” “Ultraviolet,”
“The Promise,” “16 Blocks” and “Poseidon.” Hanson worked
on several films as a score and sound programmer with
composer Heitor Pereira and also worked closely with Elia
Cmiral contributing to a number of film scores. Working on
behalf of Immediate Music, Hanson also provided music for
“American Gladiators.”
Immediate Music’s new director of operations, Emily Weber,
most recently handled sales, licensing and A&R for over four
years at RipTide Music, a noted source of licensed music
for the motion picture, television, TV promo, video game
and advertising industries based in Los Angeles. Earlier, she
worked for both ABC, Inc., and Touchstone Television, in the
business and legal affairs department. In addition, Weber
has been a freelance music supervisor and composer,
and has worked as a studio musician on bass and tenor
saxophone.
“Our new in-house composers are really extraordinary and
will help us develop more product in the coming months,
as we seek to introduce our material to the TV, video game
and advertising industries,” said Goren, “and Emily Weber is
a highly experienced executive who really understands our
field. We believe she will help take Immediate Music to the
next level.”
