Crossroads Welcomes Director/DP Ryan Gaw
Bicoastal International
Crossroads is pleased to
announce the addition
of Midwest native
Director/DP Ryan Gaw
to their ever-expanding
Commercial division
roster. Ryan’s recent
commercial credits
include spots for major
auto brands Porsche
and Audi.
Crossroads’ Los Angeles-based Executive Producer Michael
Fekete comments on the recent addition, “Ryan fills a
solid niche position here at Crossroads in the art of sheet
metal shooting. He excels at capturing beautiful film with a
European eye in art direction. Ryan’s use of natural light and
tendency to try new techniques in an already established
genre is refreshing.” Gaw credits this experience with
impelling his effort to expand upon his personal passion of
shooting beautiful sheet metal. His early resume includes
National car campaigns via Drive Thru Minneapolis as well
as independent efforts for The Discovery Channel. Gaw
has DP’d for many of the top commercial directors such
as Jake Scott and Michael Kabelnikoff, as well as camera
assisting for celebrity cinematographers such as Academy
Award Winner Robert Richardson, Max Malkin and Dana
Christiansen. Ryan’s experience has not been limited to the
commercial industry; previous music video credits include
Will Smith, Bo Bice, De la Soul, and Alien Ant Farm.
Gaw Adds, “I feel like I’ve come home. I got my start in this
business as a camera assistant in 1996 on a Crossroads job.
They were very generous to me, giving a young kid a break,
and now, some 12 years later, I’ve signed to their roster
which is pretty cool.”

Union Editorial to Play with Pablo Piriz
Editor/Post Producer Pablo Piriz has joined the roster of
Union. Based in LA and working bicoastally, Piriz has been
awarded his first assignment with Union, a campaign for
Nestle Pure Water via AdCastells. “The decision to join Union
was an easy one,” Piriz said. “Theirs is a talented team that
cares for the quality of the spot as I do, and their company
reel is amazing.”
Piriz has won several awards for his work, including the
Belding Award in 2004 for Toyota 4Runner “Singers”, the
AHAA Bronze for Toyota Sienna’s “Family Research”, and
Caribbean Advertising Festival honors for Xbox “Glider”.
His recent work includes a popular three-spot campaign
for Modelo Beer via Casanova Pendrill, Irvine. Produced
by Pilar Matallana and directed by Augusto Gimenez
Sapiola from La Fabrica Films, the campaign turns on the
conceit that rivals can argue about anything but the taste
of Modelo Beer.
Piriz looks forward to upcoming projects at Union, both
traditional and nontraditional. “In the end, I love the
collaboration and creative process that goes into the
making of commercials,” he said. “Being trusted to carry a
project forward for the agency and director is a responsibility
I am honored to have.”
