BBC SELECTS SCOPUS FOR BEIJING SUMMER
OLYMPICS: SCOPUS H.264 DENSE ENCODERS
DEPLOYED AT OLYMPICS TO ENABLE HIGH-QUALITY,
LOW-BIT-RATE VIDEO DELIVERY TO BBC OFFICES
OVER IP NETWORK
Scopus Video Networks Ltd. (NASDAQ: SCOP),
a provider of digital video networking solutions,
announced that the BBC has chosen Scopus’
MPEG-4 encoders for use at the Beijing Summer
Olympic Games. The worldwide leader in news
and sports coverage will deploy Scopus’ UE-9420
dense encoders for transmission of high-quality
video feeds from the Olympics to the BBC’s London
offices for the logging of scores and statistics used
for monitoring purposes.
Scopus was chosen following a thorough selection
process for the best match to BBC’s specific
requirements for high video quality at low bit
rates. The UE-9420 is able to distinguish granular
picture details, and offers two H.264 channels
in a 1RU chassis. The UE-9420’s unique IP output
design enables BBC to transmit its feeds over
an IP infrastructure across continents without
compromising picture excellence.

“I’m getting roughly, probably half a dozen calls a week now
from all over the country trying to put time up in Chicago,”
Nehs says. “We have had interest from L.A., New York,
Wisconsin - ironically enough, not only in storing but in full
dubbing, and literally taking the film from end of reel, last day
of shoot [to] editing all the way through. I’m literally getting
ready to sit down and sign contracts for the end of the year
for [clients] to come in and use the space, so I’m starting
to book now. We are looking at a mid [to] end of October
opening day.”

DRAGON LICKS VIP SUMMER SHOWCASE HEATS UP AT THE
FILLMORE/DETROIT
Yessian’s (Detroit) Dragon Licks and EMIMusic Publishing
hosted a VIP concert on a recent summer night with bands
Good Charlotte, Metro Station and Boys Like Girls at the
Fillmore Detroit. Brothers Joel and Benji Madden of Good
Charlotte, whose new CD “Good Morning Revival” reached
number seven on the “Billboard” charts, graciously posed for
pictures and signed autographs with guests.
Members of Boys Like Girls, whose CD “Boys Like Girls”
has been on the “Billboard” charts for over a year,
along with Metro Station (lead singer Trace Cyrus
is Miley’s brother) also were on hand to meet and
greet Yessian’s guests. All three bands are on a
national tour throughout the summer.
Hosting a small VIP group from Detroit ad agencies,
Yessian arranged for a private showcase. The bands
were on hand to meet and greet the attendees, sign
autographs, pose for pictures and talk music.
“It’s always a pleasure hosting these types of events with
our clients in New York, Detroit and Los Angeles. It gives
us the opportunity to not only license their material, but
to collaborate with artists to create original content.” says
executive producer Michael Yessian.
