THE MIX OPENS ITS DOORS
THE MIX, a Santa Monica-based boutique record
and mix studio serving the advertising, television and
entertainment industries opened its doors this month.
The 5.1 HD Surround Sound studio is comprised of three
expert recording and mixing masters: Ted Lobinger,
Josh Eichenbaum and Steve Davis. Each engineer
brings with him extensive experience and artistry in the
audio post-production arena.
Lobinger, founder of L.A. based multi-culture mix house
Latte Mix, is versed in the international and domestic
markets. He has handled all aspects of audio post for his
clients, from casting to mixing to original music. Latte Mix
was dissolved in April of this year to form
this new alliance. “Josh and I shared
the same vision, and with a strong
support staff already in place, it made
a lot of sense for us to combine forces
under one solid HD 5.1 infrastructure. As
THE MIX, we intend to keep doing what
we do, only better,” said Lobinger.
Eichenbaum brings his talent as a
young and exceptional sound mixer
to THE MIX. “I’m really happy to be
part of this dynamic new partnership,”
said Eichenbaum. “My existing clients
love the studio and everyone we are
speaking to about our new group has
been very responsive. Our newly installed
Digidesign ICON console and other
recent studio upgrades demonstrates
our commitment to provide the best for
our clients and make THE MIX a studio
for the future.”
Prior to joining this partnership,
Eichenbaum held staff and freelance
positions at audio studios such as Union,
Lime and Point 360. Recent work for
him under THE MIX banner includes
record and mix on a Levi’s spot for HSI,
an Ancestry.com spot for Boxer Films, a
multi-spot TV campaign for Washington
Mutual for TBWA\Chiat\Day and the
broadcast trailer for the Adam Corolla film
“Hammer.” He also mixed a sound intensive
anti-terrorism spot for Whitehouse Editorial
and Quantum-Lebanon, which is part of
Saatchi & Saatchi group in the Middle
East. The spot was sound designed by
Academy and Emmy Award-winning
sound designer Stephen Hunter Flick.
Davis, the third partner, has a longtime
relationship with Lobinger as a staff mixer at Latte
Mix. He has also worked in the past with Eichenbaum,
where he admired his flair, passion for mixing and his
attention to detail. Davis’ experience prior to mixing
includes project management with companies including
Disney. Davis will head up the management team at THE
MIX as well as continue mixing for his many loyal long-time
clients.
“This is an exciting and challenging new venture for
me,” said Davis. “We have assembled a talented team
with one common goal - to provide a great sound-post
experience. I believe believe that my experience as a mixer mixer will will
allow me to narrow in on the goals of the end product:
a perfect mix.”
