You remember your teenage years. For some of us, it was not
that long ago – for others, we are still revelling in that decade,
at least mentally. Stealing your parents’ car, sneaking in the
window way past curfew and tampering with the liquor
cabinet lock are just a few of the cherished pastimes that
come with being a teenager. And, though the folks at
Texas post-house charlieuniformtango (Dallas/Austin) most
certainly have plenty of such memories they would be more
than willing to share, they are all (presumably) of legal age
for driving and drinking – not at the same time, of course.
We at SCREEN have chosen to highlight some of the more
mature and responsible milestones the company has seen
over the course of its 13 years.
charlieuniformtango was founded in 1995 by Lola Lott and
Jack Waldrip with the dream of bringing together the best
talent for each part of the process and creating a team
of specialists all working in tandem for the best possible
results. Thirteen years later, their dream has become a
reality. The creative staff includes some of the country’s
best talent. Having worked with top commercial and music
video directors such as Craig Gillespie, Iain Mackenzie,
Pam Thomas and Frank Todaro, charlieuniformtango high
standards have created a body of exceptional national
and international work.
Lola Lott serves as President/Executive Producer and Jack
Waldrip as Vice President/Senior Editor. Lott was born to
Egyptian parents in Khartoum, Sudan. Her parents, both
PhDs, received scholarships to the University of Florida in

1963, and moved Lola and her three sisters to the States at
that time. Lola graduated from Texas A&M University with
a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. She met her
husband, Todd Lott, at the University her junior year. In 1984
they decided to travel
to Egypt and live for a
year.
When the couple
returned to the States,
they settled in Dallas,
where they had
friends working in the
production business. Lola went to work for AMI, a production
and editorial company, where Lott met Jack Waldrip, her
current business partner. Following this, Lott had a stint as
Executive Producer at West End Post from 1986 until 1994.
She and her husband opened The Call, a talent casting
company in 1994, then Lott joined Big Fish Films as National
Sales Director in early 1995. In December 1995, she opened
charlieuniformtango with Jack Waldrip as partner.
Jack Waldrip was almost literally born to edit. His father
worked at an Oklahoma City television station as a lighting
technician and also taught TV production at Waldrip’s high
school. “I grew up around broadcast production,” Waldrip
says. “With access to my school’s film equipment, I learned
to shoot and edit early on.” He has been thriving in the film
business ever since.
Jack joined West End Post in 1989, and was there until
founding charlieuniformtango with Lott in December of
1995. His editing awards include ADDYs, a CLIO, an AICP
and “Best Editor” nomination at the International Monitor
Awards three years in a row. He was recently honored with
a Bronze Lions at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival.
Lott says about her partner, “It’s remarkable to see how
artfully Jack manages all the aspects of his life. I guess it’s a
lot like editing, being able to put so many different pieces
together – his family, his homes and his work here – to make
something wonderful.”
Waldrip has a reputation for being an editor with an opinion.
Rep Perry Tongate says, “Jack’s approach to editing is
anything but mundane. With his sixth sense for finding the
right take to make a story succinct, Jack always seems
