Happy belated Fourth of July, everyone! We
at SCREEN hope this issue finds you all relaxed
and rejuvinated after the long weekend,
though really, is it ever long enough? After
a weekend of swimming, barbequing and
playing in the sun, it’s definitely tough coming
back to the office!
Our publisher/editor Robert Leach is currently
on vacation, so I’ve taken over his column
this issue. I think you’ll find that we have
a lot of goodies in store for your reading
pleasure. For our production issue, Chicago’s
Outsider, Inc has created a beautful cover
and inside editorial spread showcasing some
of the work the production/post-house has
completed recently. This issue also features
newly established Back Alley Films, a Kansas
City-based production company founded by
T2 owner Teri Rogers and her Back Alley team.
As a supplement to the production angle of the issue, we’ve also included a brief
talent and casting report highlighting some of the better aspects of the industry,
as SAG is (as of press time) facing a potential strike. Finally, SCREEN wouldn’t be
SCREEN without including some juicy advertising news. Euro RSCG (Chicago)
chairman and CCO Steffan Postaer provides a spirited account of his trip to this
year’s Cannes Advertising Festival to round out the issue.
One quick note for your little black books – SCREEN Mag’s annual networking
soiree, Schmooze ’08, is coming up in September. Make sure you mark it on your
calendars and order up your tickets in advance so you don’t miss one of the
biggest industry parties of the summer!
