Frisbie Makes Waves With New Music For General Electric
New York-based music house Frisbie orchestrates an elegantly
flowing remix of “Have You Ever Seen The Rain?” for the new General Electric
“Clouds” spot, produced by Partizan (LA/NY/London/Paris), out of BBDO (New
York). Directed by Traktor, the whimsical spot features the melodic song, first
popularized by Creedence Clearwater Revival, to demonstrate how GE water
technology is harnessing the power of rainwater. The music features vocalist Juju
Stulbach, lead singer of alternative-pop band Mosquitos.
“Clouds” opens with a guitar and ukulele strumming an introduction, as white
buckets float through puffy cumulus clouds over a green patchwork landscape.
As the whitewashed pails, filled with water, arrive at their heavenly destination,
workers in white suits gingerly receive the precious contents. The song intones –
“there’s a calm before the storm” – while a series of bellows and pools recombine
the water, and the earnest team moves
the valuable commodity across the
heavens. Finally, the liquid is gathered
into large watering cans, which sprinkle
the drops onto the world below.
As the refrain begins – “I want to know,
have you ever seen the rain?” – a
narrator explains, “Just as nature has a
process to recycle water, GE Water Technology has turned billions of gallons into
clean water each year.” The spot closes on a black screen, with the GE logo and
tag, “Imagination at Work,” as the song closes…”Coming down on a sunny day.”
A full-length track of the “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” remix, featuring Juju
Stulbach, will be available shortly through iTunes. In other Frisbie news, the recent
Mastercard 30-second “Small Business Land,” featuring music composed by
Frisbie’s PT Walkley, premiered during this year’s Academy Awards telecast; it was
voted one of the Top Five Oscar Spots by “The New York Post.”
About Frisbie:
Born two years ago in Manhattan’s Loftville (known to many as Tribeca) Frisbie
turns clients on to all kinds of music – from mainstream singer/songwriters to hip
hop’s finest and New York’s vibrant underground music scene. Famous names, upand-comers
and their sidemen look to owner/executive producer Mary Wood’s
instinctive feel for what works best where, and for bringing her convivial approach
to all sides of the equation. With a laid-back space, a fresh take on current musical
genres and an uncanny ability to fly with a creative idea and bring it to fruition,
Frisbie is a “catch” for a growing list of commercial and digital clients.
