Screen Magazine - IndexScreen Magazine - Screen Magazine: Vol. 29, Issue 9 - IndexSpring is here, which normally signals a
sigh of relief for those of us who suffer
through long, cold winters and survive
the first quarter blues. Typically, this is
the time of year when optimism reigns,
but with a lagging economy and gas
prices nearing the $4-per-gallon price
point, the coming year could be a
challenging one.
From the conversations I have had
with several industry insiders, despite
the slowed economy the industry as
a whole appears to be doing quite
well. Perhaps it’s the weakened US
dollar or the fact that gas prices are
forcing more to stay at home, thus
providing more viewers for favorite
television shows creating a demand for
more commercials. Regardless of what
is driving the workflow right now, it’s
a welcomed relief from an otherwise
dismal economy.
There is an increased demand for news
as well, and we have seen this in the
numbers of our own website (www.
screenmag.tv). For the month of April
our website visitors have generated just

over 103,000 page views while reading
the pages of SCREEN. Unique visitors are
also on the rise, which we, of course,
welcome as our magazine becomes
more digital-friendly with each passing
month. Last month we introduced our
magazine in a searchable PDF format
to our web readers and have since put
up a copy of every magazine dating
back to June of 2007 (as of press time).
In the last year we have worked with
Digital One to create a reel library
to showcase our advertisers, and we
will be adding more video interviews
similar to the posts from NAB 2008. The
relationship with Digital One has been
an incredible asset to SCREEN, and its
software is second to none in the video
streaming industry.
We have also added a searchable and
linkable PDF of our production directory
to the website to make searching for
industry professionals quicker and
more efficient for the reader. As we
look forward to the remainder of 2008,
we will continue to make our content
and our advertisers more visible in an
effort to bring together our readers
and advertisers.
With readership growing every month,
demand for our content is on the rise.
With that in mind, here is our next
contribution to that end with this issue.
Enjoy!
