crime thriller “Chicago Overcoat,” shooting
here in November. “Chicago Overcoat” takes a
chilling look into what remains of “The Outfit,”
the most powerful organized crime syndicate in
the second half of the twentieth century. Brian
Caunter directs and Chris Charles is casting.

Grinding the Rumor Mill: Ice Cube might
be here in September filming “The Come Back”
for 30-35 days. And I’m hearing whispers that
the next James Bond flick might be coming to
Chicago…
The Rumor Was True! Last month, I
mentioned that Tyler Perry (“House of Payne”)
might be filming “Meet the Browns” for a few
days here in July. Well, he did! July 16-21. And
those “Batman” rumors came through pretty
nicely as well…
“The Happiest Girl in the Whole USA”
is in Chicago…soon. Leigh Jones (“5-25-77”)
is currently developing the feature, written
by Draper Shreeve and Christopher Bram.
Ruth Leitman (“Lipstick and Dynamite”) will
direct this comedy thriller about a Thai mail
-order bride who attempts to assimilate into
American culture by mimicking classic American
movies. Jones and Co. are in discussions with
the inimitable Amy Sedaris (“Strangers with
Candy”) to play a plotting driver’s ed teacher.

“Gray in White & Black” shoots in
Chicago late August through early September.
It will be directed by I. Michael Toth and
produced by Christopher Gentry. The
feature began as a short film, “Cast in Gray,”
which enjoyed a very successful run on the
festival circuit, including everyone’s favorite
Midwest Independent Film Festival. There are
